North Korea has detonated a nuclear weapon, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), North Korea's official news source states. This has been confirmed by the South Korean news agencies, but has yet to been confirmed by South Korean government officials. Officials in Japan and China also have delivered no comment. North Korea announced last week it would test nuclear weapons--but also stated it would not be first to use the weapon. North Korea would only use the weapon as a defensive posture against a potential U.S. invasion.
The KCNA reported that there was no radioactive leakage from the test site.
South Korea's presidential "Blue House" stated that a 3.58-3.7 magnitude tremor was reported. South Korea has called an urgent meeting of advisers over the issue.
